Scope of the journal
Acta Montanistica Slovaca publishes high quality articles on basic and applied research in the following fields:
- geology and geological survey
- mining
- Earth resources
- underground engineering and geotechnics
- mining mechanization, mining transport, deep hole drilling
- ecotechnology and mineralurgy

- other similar fields.
Acta Montanistica Slovaca is the only scientific journal of this kind in Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe.
The submitted manuscripts should contribute significantly to the international literature, even if the focus can be regional. Manuscripts should cite the extant and relevant international literature, should clearly state what the wider contribution is (e.g. a novel discovery, application of a new technique or methodology, application of an existing methodology to a new problem), and should discuss the importance of the work in the international context.
Since 1996
Founded in 1996, Acta Montanistica Slovaca is published quarterly, four issues each year. Starting from 2004 it is freely available on-line, including all issues since 1996. Starting with January 2009, the official language of the journal is English. In special issues on local Central European topics articles in Czech and Slovak may appear.
Review Process
The Acta Montanistica Slovaca journal uses the double blind peer review process prior to publication of new submitted manuscripts. All submissions are initially assessed by the Editorial Board for suitability for the journal. Papers deemed suitable are then typically sent to a minimum of two independent expert reviewers to assess the scientific quality of the paper. The Editorial Board is responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of articles. The Editorial Board's decision is final. The whole publication process may take from 4 to 6 months, however, the final date of publication is dependent on the number of manuscripts that are already waiting for publishing.
The individual steps of the publication process can be found here: Review Process.
